Correction on something, I misunderstood Matt when he asked about playing nintendo stuff on the pc. I didn't know he meant Wii U specially. Although I am sure at some point someone will find a way to make that work too.

Don't worry about it. Matt's question about playing Nintendo Wii U games on a PC was stupid.

Whoa.

How does "Watch Dogs" connect to "Assassin's Creed?"

If you've been reading the description of "Watch Dogs" while thinking, "This sounds an awful lot like a modern-day 'Assassin's Creed,'" you're not alone. "Watch Dogs" has a lot in common with Ubisoft's time-hopping open-world series, and if you paid very close attention during "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag," you may know why.

In theory, "Watch Dogs" is essentially what you'd get if you brought the "Assassin's Creed" franchise into the present. Like the "Assassin's Creed" protagonists, Aiden explores a meticulously accurate city, securing individual neighborhoods and completing side missions as he goes. The game allows (and occasionally demands) parkour platforming, precise stealth and intense combat for a variety of plot missions and side quests. The setting is mostly realistic, while the story is steeped in conspiracy and intrigue.

The biggest "Assassin's Creed" connection, however, is right from one of the games. Although "Assassin's Creed IV" takes place mostly between 1715 and 1722, players also spend a bit of time in today's near future, exploring the offices of Abstergo, a puppet corporation controlled by the villainous Templars.

After completing the game's main story, players can hack into the computer of Olivier Garneau, one of Abstergo's higher-ups. Olivier receives a message from the Blume Corporation, offering to install the CtOS operating system at Abstergo's facilities.

Depending on Olivier's response, this could be the beginning of a strong connection between "Watch Dogs" and "Assassin's Creed." Either way, it's direct confirmation that the two games take place in the same fictional universe. If "Watch Dogs" becomes as successful a franchise as "Assassin's Creed," then expect to see more connections between the two series.

A final piece of food for thought: One of the primary themes of "Watch Dogs" is what happens when unethical, powerful collectives can track your location and movements at all times. The Observatory, sought by the Templar Laureano de Torres y Ayala in "Assassin's Creed IV," posed exactly the same question. Fans could discuss the parallels for years to come.

Form each portion loosely into a 3/4-inch-thick burger and make a deep depression in the center with your thumb. Season both sides of each burger with salt and pepper.

I'm sorry, I think I wasn't clear about what I was trying to convey.

I didn't mean that I or anyone else was or should or even might be offended by Michelle's comment.  It was obviously not meant with any sort of ill will whatsoever and if someone did get offended by it...jeez, it was a freaking porn segment so...relax.

Perhaps, an example would help.  Remember that scene in There's Something About Mary where the bad guy is lying to Mary about working with mentally handicapped children and he keeps calling them retards?  It's pretty funny, right?  But why is it funny?  It's funny because the guy is so uninformed that he thinks the appropriate way to refer to people that are actually mentally retarded is retards.

When my friends do something stupid, I call them retards.  When one of my male friends dresses up just a bit too stylishly, I call him gay or (if I'm feeling especially saucy) perhaps even a f**.  I have a really short female friend that I occasionally playfully call a midget.  But, she's not really a little person; she's just kind of short.

I do not call gay men f**s or people with Down Syndrome retards or black people n*****s.  I don't do that not because it's not politically correct but because I'm empathetic and don't want to hurt people.

Unless I'm mistaken, Michelle wasn't talking about porn with people that are shorter than average but porn with actual little people.  She used the term midget not in a playful way to tease someone but as if it was the correct term to use to refer to little people.

I also used to think that it was the appropriate term to use for little people.  I didn't know the word's history nor was I aware of the fact that some in the little people community consider it to a be a hate term on par with words such as f****t and n****r.  I was ignorant of this until I read that article.

I think these words are totally fine when used for playful teasing among friends or by comedians for humor.  If anything, humor disarms the dehumanizing nature of such words.  I just think that most people don't know that midget is considered to be a dehumanizing word for little people in the same category as the more well known ones.  I certainly didn't.

My comment wasn't about political correctness, humor, or little people but rather about ignorance.

Please stop. The show is about fun at all times. Nobody meant any harm with what was said. It's a podcast with a sense of humour and does not attack anyone. Everything is in the spirit of fun and laughs.

This guys gets it. Smiley

It seems almost ANYTHING is offensive these days to a group of people... I hold no ill spirits for any section of people (who don't harm others), born into something by choice... or not. However, I'm not gonna stop saying midget... or retarded... or anything else. IMO we've become too politically correct as a society and can't laugh at anything anymore.

This is a good read:
http://www.newsmax.com/US/mel-brooks-political-correctness-movie-blazing-saddles/2014/05/14/id/571412/
"Political correctness restricts and restrains humor," Brooks reportedly tells Smiley. "Humor has to be very crazy and very free and very liberated. And dangerous!"

How you use a word, the context of it, I think is very important... at least to ME and those I choose to surround myself with. If someone has a sign, and is picketing in front of a "little people" fundraiser, yelling "KILL ALL MIDGETS THEY CREEP ME OUT".. that's one thing. But uttering the term "midget porn" and giggling at it, if that offends someone, it's not my problem. It's theirs. Smiley If anything it offends my senses the human race has become that sensitive!

I'm still getting hate Tweets about "Indian Babies". Smiley
